ACTING CLASSES

The Philippe Gilbert course / Theater classes in Paris

The PHILIPPE GILBERT drama class takes place in Paris, several evenings a week, and in different locations in the capital, for three hours.

This is an amateur theater course aimed at people aged 16 to 45 who wish to rehearse contemporary plays, in a pleasant atmosphere, and who do not have enough time to enroll in a 'professional' course, during the day or several evenings per week.

At the end of the year, the plays are performed in their entirety in a Parisian theater.

If you want to play and have fun playing, this course is for you.

If you have always dreamed of doing theater and have never dared to open the door to a class, don't hesitate to come and join us, you will not regret it.

This course is the ideal place to start theater or to perfect your acting skills.

LA METHOD

The best way to discover the method taught in this amateur theater course is to come and attend a session...

It is based on a simple idea: In life, when we are sincere, we are always fair, because our words and our gestures are generated by our thoughts and our feelings.

You have to be able to recreate on stage what you do in life. The difficulty is reconciling 'life' and 'theatrical technique'.

MA FORMATION

Jean-Laurent Cochet, Jean-Laurent Cochet and Jean-Laurent Cochet, by never having been registered in his course.

Jean-Laurent Cochet trained, among others, Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Béart, Fabrice Luchini, Gérard Depardieu, Richard Berry, Daniel Auteuil, André Dussolier, Bernard Giraudeau, Michèle Laroque, Carole Bouquet, Michel Duchaussoy, Andréa Ferréol…

The teachers and partners who taught me something were all former students or former assistants of Jean-Laurent Cochet. The others taught me what not to do when you are an actor or a theater teacher…

I learned my profession as an actor in classes and by performing on stage, notably Molière, Marivaux, Beaumarchais, Feydeau, Courteline, Labiche, Guitry, Tchekov, Reza…

DURING THE COURSE WE DO

A few diction exercises (for 5 minutes), when we have time…

Du travail d’interprétation (pendant 2h55) sur des scènes de théâtre contemporaines , ou éventuellement, si les élèves en font la demande, sur des scènes de cinéma, des poèmes, des fables…

We spend a large part of the course rehearsing pieces that are performed in public at the end of the year.

If the students wish to work on particular scenes, they can do so after proposing them to me and obtaining my agreement. Otherwise, I choose them myself based on the level of the students, their tastes, the other scenes they have worked on since their arrival in the course...

The objective of this theater course is:

Firstly: to have fun working and playing during the sessions.

Then: to train amateur actors.

And of course: to allow students to perform on stage.

During the year 2004-2005, 14 performances took place between January and June.

including the “C’EST UNE BELLE JOUNREE” festival.

In January and February 2006, three performances of “FATHER CHRISTMAS IS TRASH” took place at the Gymnase theater.

Since 2006, a festival has been organized every year at the Le Laurette theater. The students perform the (entire) pieces that they have rehearsed during lessons.

2006: “NO FRIENDS LIKE YOU” (24 performances)

2007: “CA S’DEVORE” (28 performances)

2008: “THE STORIES OF A” (42 performances)

2009: “MY FRIENDS, MY LOVES, MY TROUBLES” (40 performances)

2010: “FIVE YEARS!!!” (51 performances)

2011: “LES BOBOS” (51 performances)

2012: “LE DINER” (54 performances)

2013: “WITH TIME…” (54 performances)

2014: “FORMIDABLE” (45 performances)

2015: “I’M TEN YEARS OLD…” (45 performances)

2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022: “Each year its original theme”

In 2010 'FIVE YEARS!!!', the festival will already celebrate its fifth anniversary. 51 performances are planned between Friday May 26 and June 24, 2010.

In 2022, the festival will celebrate its 17th anniversary!

The course is essentially devoted to rehearsing the pieces performed at the end of the year. We sometimes spend a little time on 'work' scenes, which are not performed in front of an audience, but this is quite rare.

Participation in the shows is not obligatory. Students who do not wish to perform on stage can follow the course in good conditions, without having the feeling of being isolated from other students.
